Ronald L. Dant, a resident of Dothan passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at a local hospital. He was 76 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 23, 2017 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Henry Fullington officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Dant, affectionately known by his grandchildren as "Papa", was born October 24, 1940 in Louisville, KY and lived the early part of his life there. He resided in Huntsville, AL prior to moving to Dothan in 1972 where he has lived since. He was employed as a draftsman until his retirement several years ago. Mr. Dant was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Thelma Dant, and a grandson, Ryan L. Dant.

Survivors include his wife, Vernette Dant; his sons, Rodney L. (Shirley) Dant, John L. (Josette) Dant, and Ron (Janice) Hargrave; his daughter, Deidre D. (Travis) Wood; his grandchildren, Jessica Hargrave, Dylan (Jodi) Hargrave, Chloe Bowden, Laura (Jordan) Brann, and Danielle Dant; his great-granddaughter, Haylee Hargrave; his brother, Dennis (Betty) Dant; his sister, Donna Moorman; several nieces and nephews.
