Ronnie Harold Hovey, a resident of Louisville, Alabama and Headland, died early Monday afternoon, September 25, 2017, in a Dothan hospital. He was 69.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 28, 2017, in the Louisville Cemetery with Reverend Steve Riley officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Ronnie Hovey was born and reared in Louisville, Alabama, son of the late F.D. Hovey and Willie Lue Faircloth Hovey. He lived all his life in Louisville and Headland. Ronnie was a graduate of Louisville High School. He received a B.S. Degree in Education from Troy University and a Master’s Degree in Education from Auburn University. Ronnie retired as a Civics and Social Studies teacher from Clayton High School after twenty-seven years. After retirement, he co-owned and operated Mary & Sherman’s Florist in Dothan. Ronnie was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Carlton Hovey and an infant brother.
Surviving relatives include his lifelong companion, Bill Campbell, Louisville and Headland; three sisters, Barbara Houston (Leon), Millbrook, AL; Brenda Corbitt (Bert), Crawford, AL; Connie Bedsole (Billy Ray), Clayton, AL; a brother, Larry D. Hovey (Roselyn), Louisville; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
