RONNIE  L.  MIMS


 


NEWVILLE. . .Ronnie L. Mims, a resident of the Oakey Grove Community of Henry County, died Thursday morning, February 16, 2012, at his home. He was 64.


 


            Memorial services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, February 19, 2012, in the Oakey Grove Baptist Church with Alan Palmer and Aquilla Mims officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


 


            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oakey Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Joe Dickerson, 3248 County Road 99, Newville, AL. 36353.


 


            Ronnie Mims was born and reared in the Wills Crossroads community of Henry County, son of the late James Orlando Mims and Elma Smith Mims. He was a 1965 graduate of Abbeville High School where he was a past President of the Senior Class. Ronnie also completed a Business and Accounting Degree in 1969 with a 100 average in Accounting from Troy State University. He started his career with Ernst & Ernst C.P.A.’s in Tampa, Florida upon his graduation from college. Ronnie served his country in the    U. S. Army during the Vietnam era. After serving in the military, he returned to Tampa where  he was employed as an Accountant. In later years, he was employed by Buffalo Rock Pepsi in Columbus, Georgia as an Accountant. After his retirement, he returned to Henry County to his farm until his death. Ronnie was a member of the Golden Springs Baptist Church in Oxford, Alabama.


 


            Surviving relatives include a son, Seth Mims and wife, Allison, Cumming, GA; three grandchildren, Noah Mims, Luke Mims and Evelyn Mims; a sister, Judy Hendley and husband, Don, Abbeville; two brothers, Jerry Mims and wife, Nancy, Abbeville; and Eddie Mims, Newville.


 


            Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the 1965 Abbeville High School classmates.
