TEXASVILLE COMMUNITY. . .Ronny Steve Baxley, a resident of the Texasville Community in Barbour County, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at the “Lonesome Dove”. He was 68.


 A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at the “The Lonesome Dove”.  Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Ronny Baxley, owner and operator of  “The Lonesome Dove”, was born and raised in Barbour  County, near Texasville. He was a graduate of Louisville High School. Ronny was a member of the Anderson Baptist Church. He was formerly employed by Georgia Pacific in Louisville and also Harbison Walker. Ronny was preceded in death by his father, Roy Baxley, his mother, Sarah Parmer Beaty, his step-father, Joe D. Beaty, and a brother, Randall Baxley.


 Ronny had a work ethic like no other and he took pride in any job he took on. That could be seen whenever anyone traveled to Ronny’s farm that he fondly named “The Lonesome Dove”. When he bought “The Dove”, it was swampland that with his hard work and dedication  became his cattle farm. Ronny was always the first to volunteer to help others while asking for nothing in return. “Give you the shirt off his back” was not just a saying for Ronny but he lived it everyday.


Surviving relatives his wife, Elizabeth Littlefield Baxley; two sons, Steven Baxley (Caryn), Troy; and Jamie Littlefield (Daniele), Ariton; three sisters, Alice Kidd (Stanley), Skipperville; Diane Tharpe (Jerry), Skipperville; and Deborah Tew (Kenneth), Headland; a brother, Dural F. Baxley (Deanna), Jackson’s Gap, AL; a sister-in-law, Bennie Baxley, Texaville; five grandchildren, Ciera Baxley, Breana Baxley, Kelsey Littlefield, Mary Sexton and John David Littlefield; a great-grandson, Paxton Danner; his mother-in-law, Lee Ella McLaughlin, brothers-in-law, Charles McLaughlin (Sonya), and Shawn McLaughlin; several nieces and nephews.
