MIDLAND CITY…Rosa Lee Hitson Smith, a resident of Midland City, died early Monday afternoon, August 25, 2014, at her home. She was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 27, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Chaplain Jody Haddan officiating. Burial will follow in the Midland City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the mortuary in Headland.
Mrs. Smith was born in Dale County, near Newton, daughter of the late Steven Richard Hitson and Callie Strickland Hitson. She moved to Midland City in 1969. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Diane Smith, two sisters, Ethel Head and Betty Bachelor, and a brother, Leamon Hitson.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Junior Smith; two daughters, Rose Childree, and Teresa Melvin (Donnie), all of Midland City; three sons, Billy Smith (Judi), Eufaula, Johnny Smith (Jessica), and Jimmy Smith, all of Midland City; twenty-one grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Jo White, Brooker, FL.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Billy Smith, Curtis Smith, Chris Smith, Aaron Miller, Robert E. Farmer, and Richard Childs.
