Rosa Nell Lee

Rosa Nell Lee age 73 of Dothan passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Henry County Health and Rehab. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024 4-6 p.m. at Fowler Family Funeral Home (965 Woodland Drive Dothan, AL). Funeral services will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 at Church of God and Christ (504 Houston Street Dothan, AL).

Rosa was born November 21, 1950, to John and Johnnie Mae Lee.  She graduated from Carver
High School Class of 1968.  After high school, Rosa went on to attend Barstow Community
College in Barstow, California.  Once returning home from college Rosa began a career as a
telephone operator at General Telephone Electric until retirement.  Her next assignment was to
assist the youth by working at the Alfred Saliba Family Service Center.

Rosa was widely known for her angelic singing voice and her heart to serve God.  She was
ordained within the Church of God in Christ as a Missionary under Pastor J.C McLeod.  Rosa
began going to numerous churches to share her gift of singing and speaking the word of God. 
She was a longtime member of 504 Houston Street C.O.G.I.C until she became ill three years
ago.  Once she entered nursing care, she began attending Abbeville Memorial C.O.G.I.C  Sis.
Connie Brown and other members would faithfully come and pick her up for church and all other special events.   

Rosa was so loved by many for her smile, her heart to share and loving all of her nieces and
nephews, and as if they were her own kids.  Even in her last days, many of the residents of the nursing home would speak on how Ms. Rosa inspired them and how they loved to hear her sing. Rosa’s siblings were her rock as she did not have any biological children.  

Rosa was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, John and Johnnie Mae Lee and one
brother David Earl Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memories of her loving siblings; 4 brothers John Lee Jr.
(Tallahassee, FL), James (Robbie Nell) Lee (Conway, SC), Donnie (Sheron) Lee
(Dothan, AL,) and Joseph Lee (Myrtle Beach, SC). 1 sister; Mary Dianne Calhoun
(Dothan, AL), 1 god-daughter whom she loved Amelia Kay Ferrell, and a host of
nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.  Also, one of her closest friends-Pat Miley,
her traveling buddy to Memphis for the COGIC meetings Lisa Sconiers, and her favorite eating partner Phyllis Johnson. Rosa Lee loved the C.O.G.I.C and all the members.

Thank you to her only sister Mary D. Calhoun for continuous support and care during her
nursing care stay, her special adopted sister Annie Ferrell who was there whenever she was
needed, and to her special niece Lynn Lymons (Lenny Penny) and cousin Chelle for always
coming in town simply to check on her.

A special thank you to Henry County Nursing Home and Rehab for your love and support shown to Rosa and to VITAF Hospice and their wonderful nurses Tiffany and Angela for the care provided to Rosa.
