Mrs. Rosemary Hand Battle of Greensboro, NC passed away on August 13, 2014 in Winston-Salem, NC.

Graveside service will be held 3pm in Memory Hill Cemetery on Saturday August 23rd, 2014 with Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 10am to 12pm Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the home of Betty Joyce Hand located at 4334 2nd Avenue, Marianna, FL.

She was born, August 15, 1940 in Marianna, Florida to Arlan Hand and Audrey McLeod Hand. She attended Wesleyan College and is a graduate of Florida State University, with a degree in Education, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. She and her husband, David Ostelle Battle are longtime residents of Greensboro, and recently spent winters in Maitland, Fl. Rosemary was a lifelong Presbyterian and a member of Faith Presbyterian Church in Greensboro.

Rosemary was a loving wife and mother who supported and nurtured her husband and sons David, Paul, and Richard through life. She was a teacher of second grade and spent time teaching in Okeechobee, Fl; Dothan, Al; Cocoa Beach, Fl; and Greensboro, NC.

She is predeceased by a brother, Richard Arlan Hand of Marianna, Fl. Survivors include her husband of 50 years, David Ostelle Battle of Greensboro, NC, three sons: David Ostelle Battle, Jr and wife Chelsea of Bradenton, Fl, Paul Arlan Battle and wife Kerry Anne of Gulf Breeze, Fl, and Richard Joseph Battle and wife Kelly of Fort Mill, SC. Grandchildren, Jacob, Blake and Olivia Battle of Bradenton, Fl and Jordyn and Taylor Battle of Fort Mill, SC.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Presbyterian Church, 6309 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro, NC 27410.
