A celebration of his life will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, September 30, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Dothan City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to be made to Bethel Baptist Church, 3257 E Cottonwood Rd, Dothan, AL 36301 or Wiregrass Humane Society, P.O. Box 1045, Dothan, AL 36302.

Roy Clifton “Cliff” Gilstrap, a resident of Dothan, passed away peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. He was 91.

Cliff was born on August 31, 1931 to the late Henry G. and Berta Lou Helms Gilstrap in Dothan, Alabama and lived here in his younger years. He graduated from Dothan High School in 1952. Cliff attended college at Howard College, now Sanford University. He lived in Birmingham before returning to Dothan. Cliff was employed with the City of Dothan in the Engineering Department for 31 years before retiring. He was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church and Open Men’s Sunday School Class. Cliff and his wife enjoyed traveling in their RV around the United States.
Cliff was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty J. Goodson.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 66 years, Jacquelin “Jackie” Gilstrap; his son, Gregory M. Gilstrap, Houston, TX; his brother, Grady Mack Gilstrap, Mobile, AL; his niece, Joy Lynn (Kenny) Gilstrap Johnson; his nephew, Steven (Debbie) Goodson; and his K9 companions, Pebbles, Jaxson and Millie.
