Roy J. Prescott, 70, of Dothan, joined Heavens heavenly choir Friday, December 14, 2012 after a long and courageous battle with heart disease and cancer.


Visitation will be at Ridgecrest Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from noon to 2:00 p.m. Services immediately following with Pastor Ray Jones and Pastor Michael Meadows officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home.


Mr. Prescott was born on July 14, 1942 in Winfield, AL. He has been a resident of Dothan for the past 30 years. He was a retired Air Craft Welder from Ft. Rucker, AL. Mr. Prescott’s greatest joy in life was his service to the Lord through Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He was a choir member for over 10 years, served his Sunday School Class in various positions and loved greeting people as an usher. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend who knew God’s purpose for his life.


He is survived by his wife Linda Prescott of Dothan, Daughters: Tammy (Stan) Danner of Dothan, Christy (Daryl) Hawk of Midland City, Sons: Randy (Teresa) Prescott of Ozark, Joey (Suzi) Prescott of Ozark, Paul (Kym) Clay of Enterprise and Don Clay of Daphne. Nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two sisters: Louise Goodman, Myrtle Parr of Ozark and one brother: Tommy Prescott of Winfield, several nieces and nephews.


Active pallbearers will be: Paul Goodson, Phillip Clearman, Bob Thompson, David Baker, Bobby Morris, Nikki Crockett, Jerry Branch and Gary Purvis. Honorary pallbearers will be: Adult 7 A Sunday School Class, Larry and Carolyn Hicks and Billy and Susan Dean.


Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Ridgecrest Baptist Church building fund or Covenant Hospice.
