Roy Lee Eason Jr., born October 17, 1931, passed away Wednesday, December 5th, surrounded by his family who loved him. Roy was 81 years old.
Roy accomplished many things in his life; the most significant was 65 years of marriage to Lillian G. Eason, his bride. Roy and Lillian have three children, nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Roy was born in Samson, Alabama in 1931 to Josie and Roy Eason. He graduated Troy State University followed by Graduate work at Auburn University, after which he served in the Army during the Korean War and did Civil Service at Eglin Air force Base. Roy loved to teach and taught math and science for 2 years. After moving his family to Houston, Texas to work for NASA, he received numerous accolades and accommodations for his work on many substantial projects. Roy was also an accomplished businessman, having owned and operated several companies; Gauging Systems, Inc. (GSI), Diversified Tools and Sensors Unlimited and considered himself “The Maintenance Engineer” at The Children’s University which he and Lillian have run for 45 years.
Roy has had a remarkable life and much of his experiences will only be known to those who had the opportunity to listen to him, learn from him or know him.
Roy’s funeral service will be held at 12:00pm, Saturday, December 8th with a visitation one hour prior to the service, all to be held at Niday-Fairmont Funeral Home in Pasadena. For those in Alabama, Roy can be remembered on Tuesday, December 11th at 10:00am at Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva, Alabama. Interment will follow at the Geneva City Cemetery.
