The family will receive friends at Pittman Funeral Home in Samson prior to the service on Friday, beginning at 1:00 p.m.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Isaiah and Lela Avant and brother Clayton all of Hacoda, and sisters Ruby Whaley (Gene) of Ashford, AL and Mildred Fish (Kenneth) of Jacksonville, FL.

Royce will be dearly missed by his nieces and nephews:  Dorothy Armstrong (Andy) of Newton, MS, Rex Fish (Sylvia) of Glen St. Mary, FL, Brenda Hunter (Bobby) of Winder, GA, Dale Fish (Grace) of Pace Island, FL, Debbi Holder (Joe) of Crescent Beach, FL , Kay Guediri (Farid) of Kingston, GA, and  Bonnie Bailey (John) of Jacksonville, FL, Angie Livingston (Tony) of Panama City Beach, FL, and Geno Whaley of Panama City Beach, FL.

Royce valued his independence of living in his beloved town of Samson until he was unable to live alone and moved to Wiregrass in Geneva.  He was known to be polite, friendly, and a real gentleman.  He took pride in paying his bills and being a good citizen.  His pleasant sense of humor was well-known to all who met him.  Playing the harmonica brought him great joy.  Royce loved the Lord.  There was no doubt in his mind that he would be spending eternity in heaven.  Each year as he celebrated his birthday with family and friends, he gave testimony to that belief.
