Royce Herrington, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on November 16, 1936, in Enterprise, Alabama, Royce was the cherished son of John and Minnie Ruth Herrington.

Royce dedicated his life to his family and community, embodying the values of hard work, kindness, and integrity. He was known for his warmth and generosity, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, with a graveside service at Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery in Coffee Springs, Alabama. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate Royce’s life and share their memories.

Royce lived life to the fullest... always cracking jokes and playing pranks on family and friends alike. No one was safe once he decided on a plan of attack. He never met a person he couldn’t put a smile on their face or laughter in their hearts. He left his mark everywhere he went. With his job as a Federal State Inspector, he met many people/friends from his time grading apples in Vermont and down the eastern seaboard to Miami, Florida, grading all kinds of exotic fruits/vegetables that came into the ports. It was in Luverne, Alabama, while he was grading peanuts that he met his soulmate and love of his life, Emma Ann Jeter. He whisked her away from her hometown to the big city of New York where they lived for several years. His daughter, Terri, was born in Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1964. They returned home and finally settled down to plant their roots in Coffee Springs, Alabama. They completed their family in 1968 with the birth of their son, Michael. He continued working for the inspection agency but also took up farming (his true calling). Royce never stopped working. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family and friends, a true servants heart.

Royce was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Ann Herrington (Jeter); his daughter, Terri Ann Herrington, parents, John and Minnie Ruth Herrington.

He is survived by his son, Michael Herrington; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Annette Herrington; brother-in-law and sister in law, Ira and Annette Jeter; sister-in-law, Fannie Rae Jeter; sister-in-law, Carola Jeter; many cousins, nieces, and nephews whom he loved and cherished; "Almost" daughter, Sandra Carmichael; "Almost" granddaughter, Heather Carmichael; "Almost" great-granddaughter, Fallyn Steele Carmichael; "Almost" son, Wilbur Hall; and dear friends, Gloria Lee McCrummen, Bobby Crowell, Steve Wood, Randall and Liz (Raulson) Lane.

Special thanks to the staff at Graceville Health Center. They made his time there so special. He was their "Papa/Daddy" Royce. Special thanks to Emerald Coast Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children 2900 Rocky Point Drive Tampa, FL 33607 US in Royce’s memory, in honor of Cody Herrington.

His spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him. He will be missed by all.
