            Mrs. Ruby Kate Curington passed away Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Medical Center Enterprise.  She was 81.

 

            Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Donny Thrasher, Reverend Hubert McWaters, and Reverend Sam Williams officiating.  Burial will follow in the Enterprise City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 5 pm until 7 pm.

 

            Mrs. Kate was born on December 11, 1931 to the late Rosa Emily and Willis Gordon Scott. In addition to her parents, her husband Chapple D. Curington, four brothers, Luke, Calvin, Ned and Carey Scott and one sister Leslie Spann preceded her in death. She was a member of the Grace Place Church where she had taught preschool for many years.  She owned and operated Kate’s Beauty Salon until her retirement in 2011.   She enjoyed several hobbies some of which included: cooking, quilting, embroidering, and gardening. She was a witness for her Lord and Savior as well as a loyal friend to all who knew her. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

           

            Survivors include her children: Brenda Byrd (Halpin) Enterprise, AL, Scott Curington (Kim), Apollo Beach, FL; grandchildren: Christie Riley, Brent Byrd (April), Emily Burrow (Scott), Leslie Ryals (Ben), all of Enterprise, Chapple Krutchen Curington, Kaitlin Elizabeth Curington, both of Apollo Beach, FL; great-grandchildren: Hunter and Tyler Byrd, Anna and Owen Burrow, all of Enterprise; a sister, Willie Pearl Carpenter, Columbia, AL; brothers: Mark Scott, Ted Scott (Elwyn); sisters-in-law, Ellen Roney Scott, Helen Scott, both of Dothan; numerous nieces and nephews and a special friend,  Virgil Walker of Dothan, AL.
