Ruby Kate Russell Davis of Samson, AL passed away on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at her home. She was 88 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2021, at Piney Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Davis’s memory to Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 709 John H. Day Road, Samson, AL 36477.
Mrs. Davis was born in Geneva County, AL on February 26, 1933, to the late Jim Bob and Georgia Barnes Russell. Ruby Kate was an avid fisherman, and gardener who loved working in her flower beds and watching the different types of birds in her yard. She enjoyed spending time at the beach with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gene Davis; and one brother, Hubert “Russ” Russell.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Kay Davis Brown (Rodney W.) of Pensacola, FL, and Kimberly Davis McKenzie (Ryan) of Samson, AL; four grandchildren, Josh Brown (Amanda), Zack Brown (Nicole) both of Pensacola, FL, Davis McKenzie, Ben McKenzie both of Samson, AL; two great-grandchildren, Bexton and Kenzie both of Pensacola, FL and a great-granddaughter on the way in August, Brooklyn Rose Brown; one sister and her husband, Janette (Derrick) of Sun City, FL; and a very special nephew, Benjie Holley, whom she loved like the son she never had; as well as a host of other special nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
The family would like to thank her special friends, Jean Mock, Mary Kyles, Frosty Johnson, and Jessica Brandenburg for their devoted love and care.
