ABBEVILLE. . .Ruby Murray Stinson, a resident of Abbeville, died Friday afternoon, February 26, 2016, at her home. She was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 28, 2016, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Bob Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church “Children’s Ministry”, 310 Dothan Road, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mrs. Stinson was born and reared in Abbeville, daughter of the late Myer Loeb Murray and Nellie Morgan Murray. She was a 1953 graduate of Abbeville High School. Mrs. Stinson was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church where she was a member of the W.M.U. and formerly sang in the church choir. She also volunteered at the Judson Baptist Association Mission. Mrs. Stinson was retired from the Henry County Nursing Home as an Administrative Assistant. In earlier years, she was employed by the Henry County Hospital as a Bookkeeper. Mrs. Stinson was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray Stinson, a son, David Keith Stinson, two grandchildren, Christina Nicole Paul and Asher Owen Higgins, and a brother, Nick Murray.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Karen Stinson Smith (Randall), Troy, AL; Linda Stinson Burdeshaw (Joe), Tumbleton Community; and Lucy Stinson Higgins (Ryan), Livingston, TN; a son, Ray Stinson (Angie), Headland; two sisters, Guinevere Hall Davidson (Jim), Dothan; and Myra Earlene Murray Woodham, Ozark; sisters-in-law, Winnie Murray, Jean Culpepper and Peggy Cummings Jackson, all of Abbeville; and Patsy Clark (Melvin), Eufaula; grandchildren, Anna Jetton (Curtis), Andrew Paul (Amanda), Allison Smith, Eric Paul (Sidney), Sam Stinson, Carson Higgins, Chloe Higgins, Toby Higgins, Sawyer Higgins, Lena Higgins, Cole Burdeshaw and Clay Burdeshaw; great-grandchildren, Adelyn Jetton, William Jetton, Lydia Jetton, Clara Jetton, Jaxon Paul, Preslee Paul and Levi Paul; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Randy Cummings, Chris Cummings, David Cummings, Kenny Murray, Cole Burdeshaw and Dr. Bruce Hall.
The family would like to express their appreciation to caregivers Dannette Rollins, Bonita Coleman and April Pittman for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Stinson during her illness.
