A Memorial Service will be held November 23, 2024 in the Sanctuary of Covenant Methodist Church in Dothan, Alabama. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.








Rudolph (Rudy) Heintzelman passed away October 12, 2024 in Arlington, Virginia. He was 77.


Rudy, the fifth of six boys, was born in Mount Pleasant Mills to Harry and Irene Heintzelman. After serving four years in the Air Force, he graduated from Asbury University and Asbury Theological Seminary.


He married Janet Savill on August 21, 1971.


After seminary, Rudy and Janet moved to Crown Point, Indiana, to begin his ministry. They later moved to Myrtle Grove United Methodist in Pensacola, Florida, then to Frazer Methodist in Montgomery, Alabama, and finally to First United Methodist in Dothan, Alabama. He retired from being on a church staff in 2017, but he never retired from ministry.


Missions was Rudy’s passion and he served with One Missionary Society for over 33 years. He has been on the board of Mercy, Inc since 2007. He has also served on the boards of Wiregrass Hope Group and the Asbury Seminary Foundation.


Rudy is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Janet; daughter, Carmen (Steve), grandsons Mitch and Eric; and daughter, Jill (Josh), and grandson William.
