Born April 26, 1929, in Dale County to the late Pilly Outher Woodham and Mattie Wanona Woodham, Mrs. Clark grew up a member of Sylvan Grove Methodist Church; she raised her family as members of Cloverdale Methodist Church and was a member there until she moved her membership to First Methodist Church of Dothan in the last years of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-one years Houston County Sheriff A.B. Clark; two brothers Oakland and Mikey Woodham and six sisters: Pauline Marshall, Ruth Mears, Mildred Dease, Jackie Bennett, Corrie Paramore, and Canora Brophy; sisters- in- law Nell Helms, Inez Finn, and Evelyn Daughtry; brothers- in- law Charles and John Clark; and daughter- in- law Becky Sollie Clark.
Mrs. Clark is survived by her four children Sheila Mills (Jim), Jan Hembree (Michael), Alan Clark (Marty), and Ken Clark (Konie); a sister Sharon Snowden; sisters- in- law Martha Woodham, Sue Lee, and Sandra Clark; brothers- in- law Earl Paramore and Murray Clark; 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She worked for the Houston County Sheriff’s Department and the Houston County Health Department once her children were in school. A strong work ethic was instilled in the Clark children by both parents.
Mrs. Clark or Mimi, as she was known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was never happier than when her family was together. Her love extended beyond her immediate family to include those who might not have the family support and affection so necessary for a happy life. She was a loving force, devoted to the principle of right over wrong. Her love was unconditional. Her wit was quick. Her belief in and worship of God was strong. She put others before herself until the day she died.
Glover Funeral Home of Dothan has been entrusted with the arrangements. (334) 699-3888. Please sign the guestbook on line at www.gloverfuneral.com.
