DOTHAN. . .Ruth Keeffe Harwell, a resident of Dothan, died Monday morning, September 26, 2022, at her home. She was 93.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 28, 2022, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Chuck Locke officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, near Abbeville. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Claudia Trawick, 213 McClendon Drive, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mrs. Harwell was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, daughter of the late Augustus Marion Keeffe and Bessie Ruth Rivers Keeffe. She formerly lived in Jacksonville, Florida and Abbeville before moving to Dothan several years ago. Mrs. Harwell was retired from Publix Grocery as a meat cutter. She was a member of the Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Mrs. Harwell was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Miller Harwell, Sr.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Sandra Harwell Blankenship, Dothan; and Patricia Yglesia, Jacksonville, FL; a son, Charles Miller Harwell, Jr. (Judy), Dothan; eight grandchildren, Danny Murray (Leeann), Taylor Bratchard (Smiley), Jessie Harwell , Zachary Harwell, Erica Harwell, Summer Harwell, Chip Yglesia and Kenny Hunt (Stephanie); several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
