TIFTON, GEORGIA – Sabie Eunice Saunders Suggs, 92, of Tifton, Georgia passed away Monday, September 5, 2022, at Cypress Pond Assisted Living in Tifton, Georgia. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals in Tifton, Georgia with the Rev. John Hughes officiating. Mrs. Suggs will be laid to rest on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. (central time) at Malvern Cemetery in Slocomb. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 8, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals in Tifton, Georgia from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of the service.
Born December 8, 1929, in Malvern, Alabama, Mrs. Suggs was the daughter of the late Wayne Saunders and Lessie Deal Saunders. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Mack Wesley Suggs; and three brothers, Paul Saunders, Roy Saunders and Doyce Saunders. She earned a Specialist Degree in Education and before retiring, she taught school for 20 years in Mayo, Florida and at Len Lastinger Elementary School in Tifton for 20 years. She was a member of Tifton’s First Baptist Church, where she sang in the Joyful Sound Choir and taught the Kindergarten Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Suggs is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Melisa Suggs of Athens; one daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Ike Kent of Thomasville; four grandchildren and their spouses, Emily and Alex Rush, Lauren Suggs, Manning and Lindley Kent and Wes and Magali Kent; and four great-grandchild, Georgia Lee Kent, Mack Baker Kent, Charles Rex Kent and Harry Marlowe Kent.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to the Memorial Fund at Tifton’s First Baptist Church, 404 Love Avenue, Tifton, GA 31794.
