Sallie Mae Elizabeth Pitts, of Headland, passed away February 26, 2017 at her residence. She was 86.

Graveside Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday March 3, 2017 at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Mobile, AL. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home.

Mrs. Pitts was born on December 19, 1930 in Conecuh County, Alabama and lived there the early part of her life. She resided in Mobile for several years prior to moving to Dothan in 1990. She enjoyed cooking and sewing as well as making clothes for her family. She attended Kinsey Baptist Church.

Sallie Mae Elizabeth Pitts is preceded in death by her parents, Walter H. and Cummie Raines; her brothers, Siguard Raines, Mallory Raines, Woodrow Raines, and James Raines; a sister, Evelyn Gregg; her husbands, William Thomas Pitts, Jr. and R.C. Howell; and her sons, Ronnie G. Pitts and Douglas H. Pitts.

Survivors include her brother, Bobby Raines; her sons, Don (Linda) Pitts, Larry (Peggy) Pitts, and Kenny (Annette) Pitts; step-children, Robin Meadows and Gene Diamond; daughters-in-law, Sandy Pitts and Faye Pitts; her grandchildren, Jeff Pitts, Jason Pitts, Joey Pitts, Todd Pitts, Christopher Pitts, Douglas Pitts, II, Ashley Pitts, Alicia Diehl, Candice Helms, and Allen Pitts; 17 great-grandchildren; honorary children, Janice Shelley and Rip Ellis.
