Sally Jean Williams Avant, age 85, a resident of Dothan, passed away August 12, 2021, at Extendicare Health Center.

Memorial graveside services will be held 10:00 am Friday, August 20, 2021 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Pastor Stephanie Cox officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends following the services. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity. The family requests that all masking and social distancing guidelines be observed for those in attendance.

Sally was born September 16, 1935 in Lakeland, Florida, to Clyde Elmer and Bernice Combs Williams. Sally grew up in Dothan and graduated from Dothan High School. She later attended Florida State University and worked with her husband as his secretary at Avant Air Freight and Airborne Express for over 40 years. Sally was devoted to her family and was a member at Highland Park United Methodist Church. She was dearly loved by many and will be missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Willie Lander Avant.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Anderson (Larry) of Dothan, Alabama, Dr. Lou Avant of Woodstock, Georgia; grandson, Hunter Anderson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Extendicare Health Center and Kindred Hospice.
