Sally McArthur Hall
Sally McArthur Hall, a lifelong resident of Ashford, died Thursday, July 11, 2013 at Extendicare Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Rocky Creek United Methodist Church (Ashford) with Chaplain Jack Wingate, Dr. Wister Cook, and Rev. Griff Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday prior to service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky Creek Methodist Church “Cemetery Fund”, 3146 Creek Church Rd., Ashford, AL, 36312.
Mrs. Hall was born August 12, 1935 in Ashford where she resided most of her life. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from Judson College and her master’s degree from the University of Arkansas. She taught for several years at Ashford High School and Ashford Academy. She also taught at Wallace College and Wesleyan College in Macon, GA for several years. Mrs. Hall found enjoyment in being a mother and homemaker and was an avid reader.
She is predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Bobby Hall, a daughter, Hope Hall, her parents, Willis and Freddie McArthur, a sister, Ann Livingston and a brother, Bubber McArthur.
Survivors include a son, Neal Hall and his wife, Sandy of Decatur, Texas; a sister, Sandy Hollington, of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and several beloved nieces and nephews.
