PACE, FLORIDA. . .Sam Ethridge Bond, a resident of Pace, Florida, formerly of Headland and Dothan, died Friday morning, August 25, 2023, in the HCA Florida West Hospital in Pensacola, Florida. He was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 29, 2023, in the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Headland, Alabama, with Elder Clayton Nowell and Elder Paul Evans officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church, P.O. Box 401, Headland, AL 36345.
Mr. Bond was born and reared in Henry County, near Headland, son of the late Leslie O. Bond and Beatrice Louise Shelley Bond. At an early age, he enlisted in the Army National Guard in the Headland unit and later retired from the National Guard in the Dothan unit. He was a member of Piney Grove Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Bond was retired from Southeast Health in Dothan as a Security Guard. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mariam Everitt Williams and two brothers, Billy Bond and Charles Bond.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Myrna Jackson Bond, a son, Timothy Bond (Paula), Pace, FL; a step-daughter, July Dowling, Dothan; step-sons, Alan Lopez (Kim), Dothan; Clark Lopez (Rachel), Birmingham; and Mark Lopez (Leah), Birmingham; a sister, Gloria Jean Sheppard, Grimes, AL; four grandchildren, Chase Bond, Blake Bond, Tara Bond and Casey Bond; two great-grandchildren, Lexi Bond-Enfinger and Kylie Bond-Hall; seven step-grandchildren and a step-great-grandson.
