SAM PAT SKIPPER, JR.
ABBEVILLE. . .Sam Pat Skipper, Jr., a resident of Abbeville, died early Tuesday morning, November 15, 2011, at his home. He was 84.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P. M. Thursday, November 17, 2011, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Ray Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 P. M. Thursday at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL. 36302.
Mr. Skipper was a lifelong resident of Abbeville, son of the late Sam Pat Skipper, Sr. and Juanita Skipper. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Skipper was retired as the owner and operator of Sam’s Poultry, Inc. and in earlier years, was employed by Farmer’s Quick Freeze. He was a member of the Abbeville United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by a brother, George Skipper and two infant children.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Barbara Alston Skipper, Abbeville; two daughters, Debbie Mobley and husband, Danny; Dana Starling and husband, Philip, all of Abbeville; two sons, Sam Gordon (Gordy) Skipper and wife, Barbara, Ashford; Jeff Skipper and wife, Jody, Abbeville; a sister, Marcelle Trawick, Abbeville; grandchildren, Joey Skipper and wife, Callie, Whitney Starling, Nick Starling, Brad Skipper, Eric Chambers, Mitch Chambers, Ben Chambers, Daniel Bright and Michael Bright; several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
