SAMMY LEE CARR
DOTHAN… Sammy Lee Carr, a resident of Dothan, died early Monday morning, October 1, 2012, at his home. He was 67.
A Praise Gathering will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 4, 2012, in the Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Reverend Tim Willis officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, Attn: Memorial Chairperson, P.O. Box 2123, Dothan, AL 36305 or Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mr. Carr was born and reared in the Corinth Community of Dale County, son of the late Perry Marley Woodham and Bonnie Lee Carr Woodham. He was a member of the first graduating class of Dale County High School in 1963. Mr. Carr served his country in the Army National Guard in the Ozark unit. He lived in New Orleans and Slidell, Louisiana before moving to Dothan in 2010. Mr. Carr was a member of the Grace Memorial Baptist Church in Slidell. He was retired from L’eggs Pantyhose in Harahan, LA. In earlier years, he was employed by Coleman American in New Orleans.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Judy Faison Carr, Dothan; three sisters, Lois Ann Woodham, Midland City; Colleen Woodham Peterman and husband, Steve, Rehobeth; and Ginger Woodham Wilson, Dothan; nieces and nephews, Angie Woodham Harris, Ashley Woodham, Brent Blackshear, Kevin Faison, Keith Faison, Kelli Dahl, Greg Faison, Laurie Newton, Kim Snowden and Pam Boyd; brothers-in-law from the Faison family, Alfred Faison and wife, Martha, Kinsey; Gene Faison and wife, Nancy, Enterprise; a special aunt, Thelma Faison.
