HEADLAND. . .Samuel Frank “Sam” White, Sr., a resident of Headland, passed away late Monday night, October 7, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. He was 71.

            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 11, 2024, in the Kinsey Baptist Church with Dr. Perry Mobley, Reverend Brad Hardy and Philip Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday in the sanctuary of the Kinsey Baptist Church. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Headland Fire & Rescue, 456 East Main Street, Headland, AL 36345.

            Sam White was a lifelong resident of Headland, son of the late Frank Edward White and Julia Graddy White. He was a 1971graduate of Headland High School. Sam was ordained a Baptist Minister by the Kinsey Baptist Church where he was a member and served as a Deacon. He formerly served as a Minister at Dothan Rescue Mission and preached many weddings and funerals. He was engaged in farming all his adult lifetime at Piney Grove Farm in Headland and Kinsey and served on the Soil Conservation Board of Houston County. Sam was affectionately known by his family and friends as “Big Daddy”. He was preceded in death by a sister, Dinah White Maddox.

            Surviving relatives include his wife, Sherrie Bryan White; a daughter, Dana Daughtry (Mike), Midland City; a son, Sam Frank White (Lidia), Kinsey; a sister, Juliana White Pittman, Enterprise; a grandson, Casey Daughtry (Kayla); a great-granddaughter on the way, River Grace Daughtry; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the Bryan family, Lawson and Sheryl Bryan, Tami and Jeff Shelley, and Teri and Wayne Prim, nieces, Patti Pittman, nephews, Adam Smith, Andy Smith (Becky), Bo Pittman, great-nieces and great-nephews, Meg Meek, Gray King, Savannah Stevenson, Emily Smith, Ian Smith, Riley Smith, Presley Pittman and Sara Harper Pittman.

            Serving as active pallbearers will be Adam Smith, Casey Daughtry, Brantley Riley, Mark Watson, Andy McArdle and Dr. Perry Mobley.
