ABBEVILLE. . .Samuel Tracy Owens, resident of Abbeville, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, December 3, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 56.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 5, 2017, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Joe Vickers officiating. Burial will follow in the Abbeville Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Tracy Owens was born and reared in Abbeville and was a 1979 graduate of Abbeville High School. He retired from the State of Alabama after thirty-two years employment. Tracy was a member of the Mt. Zion Free Will Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Sammy Owens, his step-father, Otis Vickers, his mother-in-law, Mary Beasley, and grandparents, Larkin and Alma Robinson and Walter and Omie C. Owens.
Surviving relatives include his wife of thirty-seven years, Cathy Cosby Owens, Abbeville; a daughter, Kaci Hughes (B.J.); two sons, Chris Owens (Brooke) and Corey Owens (Avery Deal), all of Dothan; his mother, Dolly Robinson Vickers, Abbeville; three sisters, Sylvia Brannon (Gilbert), Dothan; Linda Owens, Abbeville; and Vickie Sconyers (Ned), Clayhatchee, AL; five grandchildren, Madison Granberry, Owen Granberry, Perri Hughes, Dylan Hughes and Parker Hughes; father-in-law, Carl Cosby (Sandra), sisters-in-law, Cindy Glover (Joel) and Connie Etheredge (Steve); several nieces, nephews and cousins.
