Sandra Kaye Whitehead, of Headland, passed away, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 64.

Memorial services will be held 2 pm, Friday, July 6, 2018 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Whitehead was born on March 18, 1954 in Houston County and was a 1972 graduate of Headland High School. She attended Wallace Community College where she earned her nursing degree. Mrs. Whitehead worked as a registered nurse in multiple nursing homes in the Wiregrass area and was working with Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation at the time of her retirement in 2009. She loved to bake and cook especially for her grandchildren, whom she loved with her whole heart. Mrs. Whitehead enjoyed watching them play sports and was an avid Alabama Football fan. She was a member of New Zion Freewill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Patrick Whitehead; her daughter, Traci Truitt; her 4 grandchildren, Trey Truitt, Talia Truitt, Caleb Whitehead, and Paisley Whitehead; her mother, Carolyn Spann; her sisters, Mary Ann Spann, Brenda Peach, and Pam (Larry) Williams; several nieces and nephews.
