Sara Lois Woodham, a beacon of love and generosity, completed her earthly journey on October 12, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama, after a brief illness. Born to Oscar Hullon and Bonnie Beasley Carpenter on November 24, 1942, in Houston County, Alabama, Sara lived a life characterized by an unwavering commitment to her family, a passion for the simple pleasures of life, and a heart that knew no bounds.
Sara's legacy is one of love and laughter, a testament to a life well-lived and cherished by all who knew her. She was the cornerstone of her family, always there for her sons, Bert (Lisa) Woodham, Chris (Danielle) Woodham, and her daughter, Sheila (Jami) Brackin. Her grandchildren, Brandon (Meagan) Dean, Anna Williams, Chase (Sarah) Woodham, Lindsey (Cody) Fountain, Karissa (Adam) Zeh, Kayley Woodham, Kendra (Wesley) Pybus, and Jaden Bence, along with her great-grandchildren, Evie, Isla, Brady, Rhett, Ryker, Rennon, Gavin, Meaghan, Layne, and Sayla, and her great-great-grandchild, Apollo, will forever carry the torch of her spirit, imparting the wisdom and joy she embodied.
Sara's journey was one marked by an unwavering dedication to her community and family. She worked alongside her husband at Woodham's Cabinet Shop, pouring her soul into every endeavor. Her commitment to her work was paralleled only by her devotion to her family, who knew her as the embodiment of love and support. She was the kind of person who made a deep impact on everyone she met, leaving a legacy of kindness and strength.
An individual of many interests, Sara was a woman who found joy in life's simple pleasures. Her laughter was infectious, and she had the unique ability to make everyone feel as though they were her favorite. Sara's generosity of spirit was evident in the way she went out of her way for others, often reminding them of her love in both word and deed. She was thrifty, never one to waste, and took great pride in her beautiful yard and flourishing flowers.
A true lover of nature, Sara found solace and joy at the lake, her fishing pole in hand, content to spend hours in the serene embrace of the outdoors. The lake was a place where time stood still, and Sara was never in a hurry to leave the tranquility of the water's edge. Her virtuous character shone brightly through her active membership at Bay Springs Baptist Church, where she lived her faith and spread kindness through her actions and words.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to these very special caregivers who became part of our family, Kintenia, Kelly, Destinee, Barbara, and Shirley, your love and support during this time will never be forgotten. We would especially like to thank the staff at Dayspring Hospice for the care and support they have shown to our family.
