Sara Somerford

Sara Somerford of Midland City, AL passed away on August 12, 2020 at home surrounded by her loving immediate family. She was 81 years old.

The family will receive friends at Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday from 5-7 pm. A private graveside service will be held for family at Sunset Memorial Park.

Sara was born on May 21, 1939 a daughter to the late Arthur and Thelma Childree. She was a hardworking woman and raised 3 children all while going to night school. Once she obtained her associates degree, she became employed with Twitchell and was a computer programmer for 30 years. While she was employed with Twitchell she met the love of her life Owen Somerford. Once Sara and Owen retired, they spent their senior years traveling and riding their motorcycle. Sara was a gifted seamstress a skill she learned from her mother; she was also a huge Neil Diamond fan often taking her daughter Debra to one of his concerts. She loved her dogs and grandchildren and especially loved the great grandchildren. She will always be loved and missed by all who knew her and loved her in return.

Left to cherish Sara’s memories is her husband of 28 years Owen Somerford; children: Debra Hubbard, Michael Cron and Andrew Cron; grandchildren: Craig Cron and Jordan Hubbard; great grandchildren: Jayme Leigh, Kayleb, Ashlynn and Carson, also survived by her sisters Dorothy Byrd, Shirley (Jim) Browning and Patricia (Joseph) Memrick.

She is preceded in death by her parents and grandson Ashley Hubbard.
