ASHFORD… Sara Whitaker Carlisle, a resident of Ashford died Saturday, September 23, 2023 in a Dothan Hospital. She was 86.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 26, 2023 in the Watermark Church in Ashford with Reverend Tony Deese officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashford City Cemetery with Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations directing. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions will be accepted to Missions at Watermark, P.O. Box 512 Ashford, Alabama 36312.
Mrs. Carlisle was born and reared in Gordon, daughter of the late Clarence Bailey Whitaker and Lois Lynn Whitaker. She was a 1954 graduate of Ashford High School. Mrs. Carlisle was retired from Wex-Tex in Ashford and also was employed for a number of years as Postmaster Relief in the Gordon Post Office. She was a member of the Watermark Church and the Ladies III Fidelis Sunday school class. Mrs. Carlisle was preceded in death by her husband, William Lewis “Bill” Carlisle, an infant daughter, Tracey Lynn Carlisle, a sister, Alma Jean Whitaker, and a brother, Jimmy Whitaker.
Surviving relatives include a son, Jeff Carlisle (Allison) , Webb, AL; a daughter, Lori Carlisle, Dothan, AL; a sister-in-law, Gayle Whitaker, Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Lindsey Owens (Eric), Austin Carlisle (Amber), Richard Carlisle and Jared Fordham; one great-grandson, Easton Owens; one great-granddaughter, Erica Owens and Callie Austin Carlisle on the way.
The family would like to thank caregivers, Connie Hinson and Sherri Henson, for the loving care given to Mrs. Carlisle.
