Sarah Elizabeth Anderson (A Yellow Rose of Texas), a resident of the Pisgah community of Dale County went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, January 12, 2015. She departed this world after a lengthy, courageous battle with illness. The days of her earthly pilgrimage were 73 years.
Home Going services for Sarah will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Grace Baptist Church in Ozark with Pastor Douglas Crosby officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Midland City with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Friday, January 16, 2015 at the funeral home.
Sarah began this life's journey on April 22, 1941 at Walnut Springs, TX. As the daughter of a U.S. Army career soldier, she would spend her adolescent years at various worldwide locations with her parents. She would later marry her U.S. Air Force career husband and continue her travels. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers, and her youngest son Raymond Carl Anderson, II.
For several years Sarah owned and operated the Town Square Gift Shoppe in Headland. Sarah will be remembered as a cheerful, loving and faithful wife and mother who loved and lived life to its fullest. Her greatest joy was traveling and camping throughout this country and spending time with her family and friends. Her presence will be missed by many.
Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Arthur (Andy) Anderson; her daughter Melinda (Arthur) Flynn of Dothan; two sons, Christerfor (Dianna) Anderson of Watkinsville, GA, and Mark Henry (Jen) Anderson of Hilliard, FL; her sisters, Marie (Ray) Thacker of Quitman, AR, and Karen (Shawn) Szucs of Mt. Airy, GA; 13 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
