Sarah Ellen (Deal) Womack, 86, a resident of Cottonwood, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at her home following an extended illness.


Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm, Friday, May 3, 2024, at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Tim Simmons officiating.  Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery in Avon with Glover Funeral Home directing.


The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2:15 pm, prior to the service on Friday.  Flowers will be accepted.


Mrs. Womack was born on April 29, 1938, in Houston County to the late Willie S. & Jonnie Mae (Doswell) Deal. She worked at the Family Dollar for 3 years and Wex Tex in Dothan for 25 years. Mrs. Womack loved to read, sew, bake, and work word searchers and was a member of Wicksburg Assembly of God.  She was married to the love of her life for 32 years, Bill Womack and was married to her first husband Bill Lee for 17 years.


Preceded in death by her husbands, Bill Lee and Bill Womack; sisters, Mary Goodson and Martha Mullis; brothers, Jack, Randall, Johnny, Edward, David Deal, Wiley, Willie and Lewis Deal; sisters-in-law, Mary Deal and Martha Deal.


Survivors include: two daughters, Debra Jackson (Roly), Lovetown; Gracie Davis (Tommy), Midland City; sister, Betty Carpenter (David), Dothan; four brothers, Billy Deal, Bay Springs; Jesse Deal, Pinckard; Tony Deal (Nona), Hartford; Donald Deal (Darla), TN; grandchildren, Hannah Marie Gray (Donald), NC; Larry Gray (Amber), SC; Shawn Cherry, Troy; Matt Davis (Kathy), Midland City; Josh Davis (Sandra), Midland City; Tim Davis (Nichole), Pinckard; Jacob Davis (Bridgette), Wicksburg; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.


Active pallbearers will be: Matt Davis, Josh Davis, Tim Davis, Jacob Davis, Shawn Cherry and Larry Gray.


Honorary pallbearer will be her granddaughter Hannah Marie Gray.


The family would like to extend a special Thank You to Dr. Justin Hovey and the Staff of Southern Care Hospice of Dothan.
