Obituary: Sarah Helen Clark Helms

 

Sarah Helen Clark Helms of Slocomb, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 29 at Noland Extendicare Health and Rehab. in Dothan. She was 92. Sarah Helen was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and attended regularly until her health declined. 

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Slocomb with Rev. Scott Byrd and Lee Jones officiating.  Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. 

Mrs. Helms was born May 13, 1932, in Geneva County to the late Doug and Annie Clark. She attended the Slocomb School System and was crowned Miss Extendicare in 2015. 

Sarah Helen worked in the clothing manufacturing industry in Slocomb and Dothan. She enjoyed quilting and meeting new friends. She always had a smile on her face and never shied away from helping others. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willie “Bud” Helms; her son and daughter- in- law, William Lamar and Deborah Bradshaw Helms; her sister and brother-in-law, Addie Merle and Edsel Smith; brother, Doyle Clark; and sister-in-law, Hazel Clark. 

Survivors include her brother, James Earl Clark of Lynn Haven, Florida, and many nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, one may donate to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church or to his/her favorite charity in memory of Sarah Helen Helms. Special thanks to Noland Extendicare Health.
