Sarah Marie Crumpton Hayes, 93, a resident of Taylor (formerly of Thorsby) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.
A Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Maplesville, AL with Rev. Danny Rasberry and Rev. Doug Powell officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to the Macedonia Baptist Church “Building Fund,” 850 Co. Rd. 36, Maplesville, AL, 36750 or The Gideons International, P O Box 140800, Nashville, TN, 37214.
Mrs. Hayes was born on May 2, 1930 in Jemison, Alabama to the late Pratt and Rena Childress Crumpton. She was a 1947 graduate of Jemison High School and a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Ashford, AL. She loved her family, gardening, hymns, and was active in her church until her health declined. She lived in Taylor for the past 17 years after moving from Thorsby.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Louise Crumpton Thacker, her husband of 64 years, James William Hayes and her son-in-law, Brother Rick Glenn.
Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, James A. and Pat Hayes, Thorsby; daughter, Virginia Glenn, Dothan, daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jimmy Hill, Huntsville; one brother, John Newton Crumpton, Bessemer; five grandchildren, Gary Glenn (Christa), James Hayes (Faith), Terry Hayes, Marsha Roesener (August), Amy Lawson (Jordan); nine great-grandchildren, James Lee Hayes, Adam Joseph Glenn, Rebecca Danielle Hayes, Austin Glenn Roesener, Kristen Lynn Hayes, Mia Grace Roesener, Jonah Christopher Lawson, Micah Franklin Lawson and Sarah Lilly Hayes.
