SARAH NELL BASS GAY
NAPIER FIELD…Sarah Nell Bass Gay, a resident of Napier Field, died Monday evening, March 18, 2013, at her home. She was 87.
Graveside services were held at 3:45 P.M. Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan, with Hospice Chaplain Keith Butler officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center, 126 Hospital Avenue, Ozark, AL 36360 or to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, P.O. Box 1170, Dothan, AL 36302.
Mrs. Gay was a native and lifelong resident of the Grimes-Napier Field area, daughter of the late Fletcher Bass and Ruth Tice Bass Stough. She was a 1943 graduate of Midland City High School and was member of the Mt. Zion Assembly of God in Grimes. Mrs. Gay was preceded in death by her husband, Ulysses Lee Gay, Jr.; sons, Dennis Allen Gay and Jerry Wayne Gay; a grandson, Jason Eric Gay; a sister, Gladys Ward; three brothers, Jack Bass, Billy Joe Bass, and Willie Fred Bass.
Surviving relatives include a son, Donald K. Gay and wife, Alice, Napier Field; a daughter-in-law, Linda Taylor Gay, Cordele, GA; five grandchildren, Jimmy Gay and wife, Tracy; Donald K. Gay, II; Michael Gay and wife, Frankie Lane; Tawanna McCardle and husband, John; Rachel Champagne and husband, Josh; seven great-grandchildren, Robert McCardle, Hannah McCardle, Jasmine Gay, Jada Gay, Landon Champagne, Drake Gay, and Alanea Gay.
The family would like to thank Community Hospice of Dale Medical Center for their loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Gay during her illness.
