COLUMBIA. . .Sarah Nell Holton Duke, a resident of Columbia, died early Tuesday morning, December 20, 2022, in a Dothan hospital. She was 80.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 22, 2022, in the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church with Pastor Vann Cooley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Duke was born and reared in Wicksburg, daughter of the late Haley Holton and Bea Essie Thomley Holton. She moved to Columbia in 1999 and was a member of the Pleasant Plains Baptist Church. Mrs. Duke was formerly employed by Warner’s in Dothan. She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Talmadge Hutto, a daughter, Jackie Lynn Hutto, a grandson, Andy Ard, a brother, James Howard Holton, and a step-daughter, Kristy Louise Duke.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Cecil Edward Duke, two step-sons, Tracy Duke (Becky) and Jody Duke, all of Columbia; a sister, Elaine Watson, Newton; a grandson, Joshua Dismukes; step-grandchildren, D J Duke, Chloe Duke, Brianna Duke Martin (Josh), Dylan Garrett, Brantley Worthington and Bailey Worthington; three great-grandchildren, Noah Dismukes, Morgan Ard and Cash Martin.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Josh Dismukes, Noah Dismukes, Josh Martin, Dylan Garrett, Brantley Worthington and Dylan Feltman.
