Sarah (Sally) Hudson Scott went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 14, 2021. She was the daughter of C. H. and Eudell Hudson, Columbia, Alabama. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband, Randall Scott, to whom she was married 36 years; her son, John Michael Skaret; her sister, Ann DeGraw, and brother, Russell Hudson.
Sally was a registered nurse and devoted her entire life to the care of others. She was well-known for her skill and kindness. Over the course of her career, she traveled extensively and lived in Germany as well as different areas of the United States. Even later in life, she was always ready for a trip! She moved back to Dothan in 1995 to be near her family and her two grandsons, whom she adored. She took every opportunity to attend all the grandsons’ activities and loved “Grandparents Day” at their school each year.
She loved her life and most of all, her family, and friends. She and Randall were longtime and faithful members of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where she was active in church, her Sunday school class, and sang in the choir. She was a frequent volunteer and in her retirement years loved her time cooking, shopping, and having lunch with her friends.
She and Randall moved to Westside Terrace in 2015 where she quickly volunteered to welcome new residents and ease their transition. In 2017, she was named Ms. Westside Terrace and later that year named Ms. Alabama Nursing Home. Over the course of 2017-18 she traveled the state speaking to various community, civic, and government agencies on caregiving for senior citizens.
Sally’s life was her friends and family – and most importantly, always helping others.
Sally is survived by her devoted daughters, Jacquelyn (Leo) Shaia and Vicki (Steve) Harris; grandsons, Capt. Curt (Kylie) Harris and Hunter (Lindsay) Harris; and two great-grandchildren, EleNoir Harris and Henry Harris.
Sally will be buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham. Due to Covid, a memorial service will be held in Dothan in the summer to celebrate her life.
