Sarah Helen Thomas Heffron, a resident of Oxford, N.C. and formerly of Dothan, Al., died Thursday 6/14/2012. She was 78.


 


Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Monday , June 18, 2012 from the chapel of Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Wallace Russell and Rev. Rickey Plummer officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery, with Ward Wilson directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home chapel from 1 until 3 PM, 2 hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association 1701 N. Beauregard Street, Alexandria, VA 22311.


Active pallbearers will be nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be the Grace Sunday School Class of Bethel Baptist Church.


Mrs. Heffron was born March 12, 1934 in Geneva County, Al. to Horace and Susie Meadows Thomas. She was an active member of Bethel Baptist Church and a member of Grace Sunday School until her health declined. Mrs Heffron graduated from Geneva County High School in 1952,  married her husband John and lived most of her life in New York State.


 


She was preceded in death by her husband John Francis Heffron, her parents Horace and Susie Thomas, two brothers and two sisters, 3 brother-in-laws, and one sister-in-law and two nephews.


 


 Survivors include: one son Mike Heffron and wife Vickie of Oxford, N.C., two grand daughters; Laura Heffron of Oxford, N.C., Carrie Trundley and husband David of Bedford England, two grandsons; Jason Heffron of Beford, England, Jonathan Averett of Oxford, N.C., two great grand sons; Kenny Averett, Louis Trundley, one brother; Jesse Thomas and wife Bobbie of Slocomb, AL., two sisters; Bessie Lasseter of Dothan, Al., Lottie Sue Dodd of Laurel, Mississippi, two sister-in-law; Mary Doris Thomas of Slocomb, AL., Juanita Thomas of Geneva County, numerous of nieces and nephews.
