SFC (RET) Amos Eugene Martin of Daleville, Alabama passed away, Sunday, June 9, 2024, at his home.  He was 74.


Amos was born December 27, 1949 in Magnolia, Mississippi to Otis Martin and Ray Well Martin who both preceded him in death.  Amos was baptized at Sherman Baptist Church at an early age.  Amos proudly served his country for over 20 years with the US Army and US Air Force combined. He served as an Army Medic and received numerous awards, certificates and accommodations He received his Associate Degree in business from Enterprise State Junior College.  Amos was an active member of Dothan Community Church.  He was an avid golfer who loved, played and enjoyed the greens.  Even though he was retired, he continued working.  He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and friend.


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 20, 2024 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Daleville with Pastor Charles Lewis officiating.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00PM until service time.  Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, June 21, 2024 at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama with Pastor Charles Lewis officiating and Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing. 


He was preceded in death by his sisters Lula McCray, Willie Mae Martin, and Henrietta Chapman and his brothers Leroy Martin, Louis Wells, and John Wells and a special nephew James Martin.


Survivors include his wife, Rita Martin, Daleville, AL; son, Richard McLaurin, New York; brother, John Lee Martin, Magnolia, MS; sister, Alice Burton Flucker, Louisiana; special nieces, Jessie Maxon, Norco, LA; Carla Simpson (Joey), Huntsville, AL; two step daughters, Raschelle Patrice Gates and Lavonne Duke; step son, James Walker; three step-granddaughters, Rheagyn Golay, Madison Grace Brown and Dutchess Walker; three step-grandsons, Donavyn Gates, Tyson McGowin and D’Mami Walker.
