SFC Ronald Bruce “Pawpa” Jackson, age 86, of Daleville, Alabama, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022 at Flowers Hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 29, 2022 at Gardens of Memory with Rev. Jim Peters officiating and Searcy Funeral Home & Crematory directing. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Ronald was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was born April 24, 1936 in Herkimer, NY and resided in Daleville, AL since 1969. Married to Marie Jackson for 45 years. She was truly the love of his life. Ronald graduated from Troy State University with his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1985. He retired from the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class. Upon his retirement, he worked as an Air Traffic Control Instructor. He was very giving, loving and caring to all his family and friends, known to all as “Pawpa”.
Ronald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Marie R. Jackson; parents, Herbert and Gladys Jackson; sister, Jean Perry (Hart); brother, Robert Jackson; son, Joseph (Bubba) Wilkinson; Son-in-law, Greg Mercer.
Survivors include his three daughters, Patsy Mercer, Ashford, AL; Debra Theriot, Denham Springs, LA; Jean Treadaway (Mike), Port St Joe, FL; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Wilkinson, Walker, LA; thirteen grandchildren, Jan Pennington (Joey), Enterprise, AL; Richard Poole, Walker, LA; Tasha Smith (Troy), Gulf Breeze, FL; Tanya Underwood, Searcy, AR; Robbie Theriot (Dawn), Walker, LA; Jason Theriot, Walker, LA; Jody Wilkinson (Lisa), Walker, LA; Bruce Wilkinson (Summer), Old River-Winfree, TX; Robert Wilkinson, Walker, LA; Brenda Grimes, Old River-Winfree, TX; Michael Wilkinson, Walker, LA; Duane Wilkinson, Walker, LA; Chris Wilkinson (Megan), Baton Rouge, LA; four great grandchildren, Ashley Pennington, Gulf Shores, AL; Lani S. Kelly (Austin), Defuniak Springs, FL; Olivia Bench (Kevin), Bald Knob, AR; Paiton Higgs, Bald Knob, AR; numerous great great-grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to his caregiver, Jessica McIntosh and her family for loving “Pawpa” and taking wonderful care of him.
