Shannon Danielle O’Byrne

Shannon Danielle O'Byrne, known lovingly as Shannon to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024, in her hometown of Dothan, Alabama. Born on February 3, 1973, in the same vibrant city, Shannon's life was a rich tapestry woven from her passions, her love for her family, and her unyielding spirit.

Shannon's journey began as the beloved daughter of Deborah Long and the late Henry Webb, and she grew up alongside her brother, Courtney Webb. Her formative years were spent within the close-knit community of Dothan, where she graduated from Dothan High School in 1991. Shannon's educational background laid the foundation for a fulfilling career that spanned over 17 years, dedicated to helping others in the medical supply field. She spent 16 meaningful years at Oncology Supply and most recently was a valued employee at Bio Care for the past year.

In the year 2004, Shannon's life was beautifully entwined with that of her husband, Leo O'Byrne, marking the beginning of a loving partnership that would last two decades. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Sydney, who became the light of Shannon's life. Shannon's family circle was wide and cherished, including her mother, Deborah Long; her brother, Courtney Webb (Serina); her mother-in-law, Myra O'Byrne; sister-in-law, Terry Parker; aunt-in-law, Mary Grantham; and her adored nieces and nephews, Samantha, Matthew, Ella, Matthew Joyner, Will Joyner, and Micah Parker, along with three great-nieces and nephews.

Shannon's personality was as vivid as the Alabama sunsets she so loved. Described as a spirited and loving individual by all who knew her, she was a firecracker with a friendly demeanor that drew people to her. A loyal friend and confidante, Shannon was known for her strength of will and her lack of a filter, which only endeared her more to those around her. Not a morning person by any stretch, she nonetheless filled her days with energy and laughter, and her absence will be felt deeply by all who were blessed to know her.

Her interests were as multifaceted as her personality. Shannon was a woman who lived for the moments that brought her joy, whether it was spirited debates that showcased her quick wit or spending quality time with her daughter. She cherished family gatherings at the beach and the mountains, creating memories that would last a lifetime. Shannon's love for her nieces and nephews was boundless, and she embraced every opportunity to be involved in their lives.

Shannon's presence was a gift to the world, a reminder of how to live authentically and love fiercely. Her laughter was infectious, her spirit indomitable, and her heart generous. She leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience that will continue to inspire those she touched.

As we bid farewell to Shannon Danielle O'Byrne, we celebrate a life lived with passion and purpose. Her memory will be treasured, her stories retold with smiles, and her spirit will continue to guide us. Shannon's life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of family, and the beauty of friendship.

She is preceded in death by her father, Henry Webb, and her grandparents, James Robert and Dottie Grimsley, and Joseph O'Byrne. Shannon's light will forever shine in the hearts of her family and friends, who take comfort in knowing that her vivacious spirit will be with them always.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm Thursday May 30, 2024 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the ceremony at the funeral home.
