A celebration of her life will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, January 7, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jeff Downing officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, January 7, 2022 from 2-3 pm.
Sharon was born on August 10, 1955 in Hampton, Georgia to the late William T. and Jeanette Reid Shurett. She moved several times during her youth with her family due to her father’s work. She was a 1973 graduate of Warner Robin’s High School and moved to Mobile, Alabama. Sharon was employed with Pic-A-Frame in Mobile and loved working with art. She would work with special needs children at Allentown Elementary School until she decided to step away to focus on her health and family. Sharon was the heart of her family, and she loved them more than life itself. This was evident in everything that she did. Sharon loved to work in her flower gardens and to soak in all of God’s wonderful creations, but most of all to be surrounded by her family. Her generous spirit and bright outlook on life will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Survivors include her husband of 47 wonderful years, Glen O’Neal; her two daughters, Leslie (Barry) Leatherwood and Jennie (Scott) Murphy; her grandchildren, Emily Murphy, Alex Murphy, Carson Murphy, Julianna Murphy, Abigail Leatherwood, Preston Leatherwood, and Isaac Leatherwood; her brother, Bill (Rebecca) Shurett; her sister, Becky Shurett; and several nieces and nephews.
