OBITUARY
HOLMAN ABBEVILLE MORTUARY
SHEILA GAY NORTON
ABBEVILLE . . .Sheila Gay Norton, a resident of Abbeville, died Tuesday morning, October 22, 2013, in a Dothan hospital. She was 74.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 24, 2013, in the First Baptist Church of Abbeville with Reverend Ryan Johnson, Brian Jones, and Brandon Elliott officiating. Burial will follow the Adoniram Baptist Church Cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, please send your non-tax deductible monetary donation designated “In Memory of Sheila Norton”, to First Baptist Church of Abbeville, P.O. Box 606, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mrs. Norton was a native of Newport, Rhode Island, daughter of the late Harold E. Gay and Dorothy Couley Gay. She formerly lived in Dothan before moving to the Union community of Henry County thirty years ago. Mrs. Norton was a member of the First Baptist Church of Abbeville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Al Gay, and Russell Gay.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Herschel Floyd Norton, Abbeville; three sons, Alan Jones, Dothan; Donald Jones (Virginia), Gardendale, AL; and Douglas Jones (Jennifer), Headland; eight grandchildren, Brian Jones (Lezlie), Harris Jones, Tyler Jones, Brandon Elliott (Megan), Matthew Norris, Meghan Norris, Kyle Jones, and Madelyn Jones; a great-grandson, Riley Jones.
Serving as active pallbearers will be the grandsons.
