Sherry Lynne Tillery (Fisher), a resident of Opp, formerly of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Mizell Memorial Hospital. She was 58.
Her wishes were for cremation and a celebration of life ceremony will be held on Sunday, June 30th at 2 PM at Babbie Town Hall, 24094 Bethel Road, Opp, AL.
She graduated from Dothan High School in 1979 and received a degree in nursing from Wallace Community College in 1980. She began her career as an LPN at SAMC and worked several local facilities throughout her nursing career. In her later years, she worked as a cashier and were the assistant manager at Andalusia Chevron until 2015 when her health began to decline. In free time and were able to do so, she enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family, reading, and watching paranormal tv shows. She was an animal lover, bringing home stray animals. In the last years of her life, she enjoyed the company of her two dogs, Molly and Honey, and two cats, Gizmo and Alfie, along with her caregivers. She was a little bit of everything - caregiver, mother, sister, daughter, cheerleader, supporter and friend that everyone needs in their life. She was out-spoken, loyal, kind, funny, intelligent, sharp witted, motivated, and determined. She had a heart of gold, giving a person in need what they needed, regardless if she had it and was willing to lend a hand even when she was sick. She is simply irreplaceable and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William H. Tillery Jr. and Ann Merle McDaniel Tillery, brother-in-laws, Eugene (Sam) Carter and Jerry Shiver, and special friend, Blake Fisher.
She is survived by her only daughter and son-in-law, Jessica (Nikki) Tillery Cox and Jay Cox of Loango, sisters, Ann Shiver of Montgomery and Kathy Carter of Opp, uncle, Rufus (Gladys) Tillery of Dothan, one nephew, three nieces, as well as many other relatives and friends.
The family would like to send a very special thanks to the staff of Mizell Memorial Hospital and Comfort Care Hospice for their excellent care and support during this journey.
