Shirley Ann Mathis Turner went peacefully to meet her savior Monday January 18th, 2016 at home. She was born May 16th, 1948 in Dothan AL. She was 67. She was born to the late Jewel Enfinger Starling and David Mathis. Mrs. Shirley Turner worked as a pre-school teacher and Assistant Director most of her life at Kinder-Care Learning Center. Mrs. Shirley's favorite past time was playing the slot machine in Montgomery. She also liked playing the machines at Center Stage. She loved any Casino, bingo game, dog racing anything she had to wait to the end to see if she was busted or a winning. It was just electric to her!!!
She did attend church in her younger years at Grandview Baptist Church. She spent most of her adult life in Dothan with her husband Jimmy Turner. They were married for 30 years.
Mrs. Shirley leaves behind her husband Jimmy Turner, two daughters: Carol Henderson Agwain(Gene) of Helendale, CA., Pamela Henderson Whitaker of Campbelton, FL. Her son was the late David Ray Henderson(Vanessa) of Leisure Lakes, FL. She also leaves behind two sisters, Brenda Barefield(Hilton) of Midland City, AL. and Sarah Hadden of Hartford, AL. She has a brother Thomas Mathis of Headland, AL. She was preceded in death by two brothers William Durwood Mathis and Ross Mathis. She has a daughter-in-law Vanessa Henderson. She has several grandchildren: Karri Turvin Shabazz(Omar), Kaci Brooke Turvin Johnson, Justin Agwain, Cameron Henderson, Ralie Henderson Moore(Jasper), Ty Henderson, Micah Whitaker, Shayna Whitaker Bonam(Matt). She also has several great-grandchildren: Parris,JaKobe, Kyron Danzy, Jayce Turvin,Jazlynn Whitaker, McKynlie Bonam. She also has several niece's, nephews, and cousins. Special cousin Martha Wackle, special aunt Pauline Enfinger, special neighbors Frances McArdle and Janice Cadenead. Special friend of the family Donna Beth Cole Carr.
Join the family and friends of Shirley Ann Turner as they celebrate her life. The memorial will be held at Ryan's Resturant, 3420 S. Oates Street, Dothan,AL. All friends and family are invited as we let go of her physical being on earth, and release her to a spiritual life in heaven.
Shirley may you finally rest in peace, free from pain and hurt. YOU SURELY, "DID IT YOUR WAY", and you know what we wouldn't had it any other way.
