Mrs. Shirley Ann Mock Bowdoin of Samson, AL went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 76.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, September 29, 2024 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, Alabama, with the Rev. Wendell Ard officiating and her grandson, Brian Massey, Jr. delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow in Windham Cemetery (adjacent to their home) in Samson with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Shirley was born May 21, 1948 in Coffee County Alabama to the late Lincoln James and Willie Mae Heath Mock. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an accomplished musician. Playing the piano and singing was at her very heart and soul. Shirley believed that her true calling in life was to love others and care for them. She spent most of her adult career as a hairdresser and helped her husband raise their family on the farm. She was never scared of hard work and instilled that into the lives of her family. She was loved and will be missed by many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mike Mock.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 55 years; Bob Hill Bowdoin of Samson; son, Jim Wade Bowdoin (Pam) of Samson; daughter, Wendy Bowdoin Massey (Brian) of Coffee Springs, AL; six grandchildren, Dustin Hanks (Courtney) of Kinston, AL, Dillon Bowdoin (Summer) of Samson, AL, Megan Doran (TJ) of Coffee Springs, AL, Brian Massey, Jr. of Montgomery, AL, Dexton Bowdoin and fiancé, Jessica Dodson of Samson, AL, and Levi Bowdoin Massey of Birmingham, AL; four great grandchildren, Landon Hanks, Charlotte Hanks, Rhett Bowdoin and Ryder Massey.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.
