COLUMBIA. . .Shirley Brackin Bumpus, a resident of Columbia, died early Saturday morning, December 11, 2021, at her home. She was 78.

   Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday, December 13, 2021, in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan, with Chaplain Kathy Stumbaugh officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.  Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements

    Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 2576 Montgomery Highway, No. 2, Dothan, AL 36303.   

    Mrs. Bumpus was born and reared near Columbia, daughter of the late Rufus Backin, Sr. and Verna Mildred Smith Brackin. She was formerly employed as Assistant Manager of Kiddie Land in Dothan and Judy Bond Blouse in Columbia. Mrs. Bumpus was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Mark Bumpus, a son, Billy Eugene Parker, a grandson, Corey Harrison, a step-son, Andrew Mark Bumpus, four sisters, Frances Holmes, Mildred Newman, Betty Jean Parker and Henrietta Gray and a brother, Rufus “Buster” Brackin, Jr.

     Surviving relatives include a daughter, Anita Harrison, two sons, Terry Lynn Parker (Lisa Proctor) and Toby Ray Parker (Dawn Thorne), Columbia; two sisters, Nelda Prokopchuk (Don), Panama City, FL and Cathy Ross, Headland; three grandchildren,  Crystal Milner, Terra Lindsey and Amanda Soler, three great-grandchildren, Lilly Soler, Anthony Milner and Brianna Milner.
