Shirley Guy Frisinger, 83, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on March 5, 2018. Shirley was born on October 4, 1934 to Clinton O. and Charlie Mae Baughman Guy. Shirley graduated from Dothan High School in 1953, where she served as Senior Class President. Shirley’s career began with secretarial positions and advanced to earning her insurance licensure which qualified her to work as an insurance agent with Liberty National Life Insurance Company. Her priority during this time; however, was raising her three children, Terri, Les and Jennifer. When the children were older, Shirley met and married the love of her life, Miles J. Frisinger. With Miles as her husband, Shirley happily embraced his two daughters, Karen and Betsy, as a part of her family. Miles’ work led them to travel all over the world, living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for several years and retiring back in Dothan.

Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dothan and the June Austin Sunday School class. She appreciated music of all genres and was an avid reader. She enjoyed the friendships of lifelong friends both from Dothan High School days and her church Sunday School class. Her friends and family will attest to her great sense of humor and her wonderful laugh.

Family was so important to Shirley and she deeply loved those who survive her. Left with wonderful memories are her daughters, Terri Hutto Shores (Wallace), Cottondale, Florida, Jennifer Hutto Clemmons, Rehobeth, Alabama, Karen Thurston, Shawnee, Kansas and Betsy Stormont, Brookfield, Wisconsin. She was blessed with seven grandchildren: Jonathan Grant Shores (Christy), Cassidy Clemmons, Keeley Waugh (Bill), Jenny Kennedy (Dave), Tracy Santoro (Carl), Ryan Stormont (Rebecca), and Aaron Stormont (Kelli). She was also blessed with 10 great-grandchildren, including Christian Shores. She is survived by two sisters and one brother: Annelle Smith, Henrietta Brown, and Oakley Guy (Sharon).

Shirley is predeceased by her husband, Miles J. Frisinger, her son, William Lester (Les) Hutto, Jr., her parents, Clinton O. and Charlie Mae Baughman Guy, and sons-in-law Bill Clemmons and Robert Stormont.

A celebration of life service for Shirley Guy Frisinger will be held in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel at 11 am on Thursday, March 8, 2018 with Dr. Johnny Fain officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

While the pain of grief may fade with time, memories will remain vivid in the hearts and minds of Shirley’s loved ones. She should be remembered as one who relied upon her strong Christian faith to accept the sad losses in her life along with the challenges of hardships. She embraced, with optimism, life and all the happiness and joys which came her way.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Missions Fund c/o First Baptist Church, 300 W. Main Street, Dothan, AL 36301.
