Mrs. Shirley Helms Edberg of New Brockton went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Medical Center Enterprise following an extended illness.  She was 64.


Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Dr. Michael Mynatt officiating.  Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the church Wednesday beginning at 1:00 and continuing until service time.

Mrs. Edberg was born June 12, 1950 in Tokyo Japan to Mary Lavinia Jordan Helms and the late James Carl Helms.  She was the treasurer and past president of the General Edmond Winchester Rucker Chapter and past Alabama Division Treasurer of The United Daughters of the Confederacy.  She had 34 years of service at The Citizens Bank.  She was a dedicated member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.


Her father, James Helms, preceded her in death.


Survivors include her husband of 35 years, James E. Edberg of New Brockton; her son, Thomas R. Guess III (Salina) of Woodstock, Georgia; her daughter, Kellie E. Lunsford (Bryan) of Marietta, Georgia; her mother, Mary Lavinia Helms of Enterprise, Alabama; her sister, Marie Koach (Stephen) of Enterprise, Alabama; her brother, Kenneth Helms (Heather) of Fayetteville, Georgia; 4 grandchildren: Emily Guess, Zachary Puerto, Mary Margaret, and Easton Lunsford.
